The Museum of Cycladic Art is located in Athens center and emphasizes on Cycladic Art of the 3rd millennium BC. Collections are divided as follows : Cycladic Culture 3200 – 2000 BC, Ancient Greek Art 2000 BC – 395 AD, Ancient Cypriot Art & Culture 3900 BC – 6th c. AD
The artifacts for which the Museum of Cycladic Art is famous for are those well-known stylized marble figurines in two basic types: schematic and naturalistic. The Cycladic Figurines in their majority represent nude females in standing position and others, less frequent, are models of male musicians, warriors and groups of figures in a range of postures.
Those early Cycladic figurines are some of the most compelling early statements of the human form that have an appeal to the contemporary eye. With their quiet rhythms, expressive minimalism and balanced proportions, they look remarkably modern. Topics concerning those sculptures is whether they were white or decorated and the Keros enigma (a large number of broken figurines)

The architecture we cherish nowadays as ‘picturesque’ is, in fact, an outcome of a long struggle for survival in an adverse environmental setting. Many generations have squeezed their means out of the available resources in a truly sustainable manner.
The locals adapted their comfort & needs to the given conditions, subsequently creating this genuine minimalist architectural idiom, a brilliant example of vernacular environmental sustainability and economy construction.
Santorini has an even more specific architectural element which is that of vaulted roof of dwellings, a roof pattern that prevailed after the 1956 earthquake in most areas of the island. The houses are built with volcanic and light pumice stone and are reinforced with wooden “chainages” proving a high level of construction technique.  This architectural culture has shown the way for the manufactured architecture of the most recent decades.

The rocky treeless terrain of most Cycladic islands is what impresses travelers the most.  An ancient Greek myth says that the islands of the Cyclades were created at the terrible "War of the giants", from the enormous rocks that were thrown against each other by the Giants and the gods. This is the mythological version of the geological realignments that took place at the creation of the Cyclades and the other islands of the Aegean.  Entire islands of the Cyclades - Santorini, Milos, Kimolos- and a part of Antiparos were shaped by the volcanic activity which created the island arch of the Southern Aegean.
